5 Essential Tips To Prevent Acne

Acne is an annoying skin problem that can affect any race, skin type or gender. Fact is, nobody likes acne. For girls, it can be considered as the most annoying issue for their skin, and also quite hard to get rid of. For guys, it may not affect their confidence as much as it does to girls, but consistent breakouts and acne on the whole face are annoying problems. After all, look still counts as much as confidence.

Fortunately, you can prevent acne easily without spending a fortune. By following these 5 easy tips, you will stay far away from acne problems and easily maintain that flawless skin.

 Prevent Acne

Clean Your Face

This tip sounds like a no-brainer. But you will be surprised to know how many people really know how to clean their face off all the dirt and impurities. Many people wash their face every morning with a soap or cleanser but is it really enough?

On your face, there are dirt, dead skin cells, excess oil from your skin surface, and other impurities. You should regularly wash your face with warm, not hot, water, and a mild facial cleanser for twice a day – in the morning and at night. When you are going out, make sure to wash your face when you get home as it is always better to clean off the dirt off your face immediately.

The cleanser of choice should be mild, and doesn’t need to have any fancy treatments. It is best to avoid soaps since harsh chemicals in them can be quite harmful to skin.

Moisturize

If you are serious about having a healthy, glowing and flawless skin, you will need to moisturize properly and hydrate it. Even if your skin is oily, moisturizing is something you cannot skip as oil and moisture are totally different things. On top of that, the weather can dry out your skin too, so you will need to use moisturizing products daily.

For dry skins, use a cream or lotion as they tend to have more moisturizing effect. For oily skin, then you can get water-based moisturizing gels that are pretty light. Combination skin users can use both – gel for oily areas such as T-zone, and cream or lotion for normal/dry section. This is the second step after you clean your face.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is the process that can deeply clean all the impurities you have within your skin pores. Facial cleansers can only help you so much, but exfoliation products can effectively get rid of dead cells and bacteria.

You don’t need to rely on expensive or harsh products for exfoliating your skin. You can use a facial scrub twice a week, but not more than that, to peel off the dead skin cells. For a daily usage, try mild AHA or BHA based lotions or use retinol. However, make sure that you protect yourself from sun if you exfoliate your skin as it will become more sensitive.

Use Sunscreen

While girls will religiously follow this advice, guys will refuse to do so. In fact, sunscreen is not an optional but a necessity if you are serious about having a healthy skin and protecting yourself from skin cancer. For the uninitiated, UVA rays from the sun can cause serious skin damages such as premature aging as well as skin cancer.

Not only that, due to exposure to both UVA and UVB rays, acne breakouts can get worse or even have new breakouts. However, you can easily protect yourself by using sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher. Look for non-perfumed sunscreen if you don’t like the scent.

Just Relax

When life gets in our way, we always forget to step back, relax and give a bit of peaceful time to ourselves. According to researches done by dermatologists and psychologists, our emotional states have a direct impact on our skin conditions. Studies have shown that stress can lead to severe acne breakouts. It is important to find effective ways to deal with your stress, and eliminate the root causes before it builds up and affects your skin as well as all aspects of health.
