During the course of menstruation, high amounts of prostaglandins are released in the body to facilitate uterine wall contraction. Chamomile is an excellent herb used for the treatment of pain during the period. Prepare a tea by simply soaking 1 to 2 teaspoons of chamomile in a cup with boiling water for not more than 10 minutes. Strain the tea and add honey to it. Consume this at least twice daily for best results.
